Where can I find information writing on job descriptions?

What’s the difference between backfill and reclassify? 

When you have a vacant position that requires minor or no changes to the job description, that is a backfill. When the changes are more significant and would cause a change in title, salary, or exemption status, a full review must occur before posting a position. The University will reclassify based on the additional information.


Where can I find an Org chart? 

Check with your department for an updated org chart. If you cannot find one, please contact BODR.


What if I have a new position?

New positions require prior approval from SAIE and the Provost’s office. If you’ve already received approval for a new position, please follow the reclassify steps.


I want to offer a relocation bonus to an out of state applicant.

The University requires prior approval for relocation bonuses. If you wish to include a relocation bonus for out of state applicants, please include additional justification to the BODR team for approval when you are submitting the job description.  


I want to offer a signing bonus.

Signing bonuses are limited to senior level positions and/or positions that have already experienced a failed search. Signing bonuses require prior approval from the BODR office. Section 2, C 2. Staff Additional Pay policy


What if I want to post a position internally? 

Internal postings require additional justification. Submit a memo of explanation with your Freshdesk ticket describing why you only wish to advertise to internal applicants.  


When do I update a Job Description?

-As needed when there is a vacancy or significant permanent change in duties

-Each year during performance review

What is the process for a non-benefited position?

You may use the blank non-benefitted template in the BODR knowledge base. Hiring managers initiate the recruitment themselves. Follow the steps in the University Financial Services Knowledge Base article Creating a Job Requisition for Non-Benefited Staff

 

How does a Hiring Manager use Page-Up during an active search?

In your My.DU.edu page go to “Administrative Resources and Processes” -> “Hiring: Benefited” -> “Jobs@DU login” OR in the My.DU.edu search bar “Jobs@DU hiring manager”. Use the PageUp login to begin.
